Our History

1952 Joseph H. Blades founded the company
1978 The company was acquired by Crum & Forster
1987 J. H. Blades management team engineered a buyout of the company and narrowed its focus to energy-related risks only
1997 J. H. Blades merged with Swett & Crawford to become part of the largest wholesaler in the United States
2010 $3.5 Billion Independent Broker Created by Cooper Gay and Swett & Crawford Deal
2012 J. H. Blades launches Blades Marine, a new marine insurance underwriting division
